About

At TireGrades.com, our goal is to inform tire buyers about all aspects of tires for cars and trucks. We especially want to demystify how to choose the best tire. Most people don’t have a clue about how to buy tires, and quite honestly, we don’t blame them. Tires aren’t flashy—they’re utilitarian for most people, a simple wear-and-tear item they need to replace every once in a while. But they’re expensive, which means understanding which tire offers the best value becomes critical.

Making Tire Buying Easier

We know that buying tires can be confusing. That’s why we’ve created buying guides and tools to help you understand the best tire to pick. We want to make the process as straightforward as possible so you can feel confident in your choice.

100% Customer Feedback Ratings

I want to be transparent that all of the tires are rated by 100% customer feedback. The great thing about reviews based on customer experiences is that they cast a very wide net. When averaged out over a large number of responses, you begin to get a very good assessment of a tire’s strengths and weaknesses. As a Tire Rack affiliate, I scour their massive database of tire review statistics and pluck out the gems that offer the most bang for your buck. It’s easy enough to find the best-performing tire, but you’ll likely pay through the nose for it. Often, you can get surprisingly close to the pinnacle of performance while saving a significant amount.

Future Plans for Tire Testing

While customer feedback is invaluable, there are performance aspects that don’t get revealed by reviews alone. I want to include tire tests at the Michelin Proving Grounds just south of Charlotte, where I live, in Greenville, South Carolina. Tire testing is expensive and difficult to ensure consistent test conditions against a wide range of tires. Even a passing cloud can affect the outcome of a test by changing the surface temperature of the track, potentially altering traction numbers, stopping distances, and acceleration times. It’s also challenging to get accurate measurements of things like treadwear and real-world driving scenarios.

I’m not dismissing tire reviews—in fact, I want to perform them myself. But until this fledgling website begins doing more than simply keeping the web server paid, it’ll be a goal to achieve. Rest assured, I’m working towards making this a reality because I believe it will provide even more value to you.

A One-Person Passion Project

I’m a single person running all aspects of this website, and it demands a lot of work. If you notice the level of production quality, you may think I farm everything out or that I have a large staff. The truth is, I do all of the work myself. I designed the site, set it up, and troubleshoot and fix things when they break. I create all of the YouTube videos myself, including all of the graphics, scripts, and audio. I created all of the calculators embedded in many of the articles. I’ve created nearly 1,000 posts and counting. Oh, and did I mention I have a full-time job in addition to running this website?

While Jack Kasmierski has agreed to allow me to include some of his YouTube videos from his “Jack Talks Tires” channel, that is the extent of his involvement. I love this website, and it is my passion—obviously!

My Background and Love for Cars

My background is as a graphic designer who got his start at the dawn of the internet, and I’ve honed my skills over many years. That explains how I’m able to run this site myself and pull it off (mostly anyway) with it looking professional. I’m also an automotive enthusiast. My inner child is “Ricky Bobby,” and I just “wanna go fast!” While tires aren’t the most exciting aspect of automobiles, I happen to have an unusual amount of knowledge on the subject. I grew up close friends with kids of a tire shop owner and worked as a consultant under contract for Discount Tire. I also have personal experience chewing through expensive tires in 7,000 miles and gained knowledge wanting to understand how to stop throwing money at that problem.

Thank You for Your Support

I genuinely appreciate everyone who visits TireGrades.com. Your support means the world to me. Running this website is a labor of love, and knowing that it’s helping people makes all the effort worthwhile.

If you find value in what I do, please consider spending more time on the site or subscribing to the YouTube channel. You can also buy some tires through the links provided in the reviews, but that’s a bonus. Every little bit helps me continue doing what I love to do.

Thank you for being part of this journey! Good luck and happy motoring.
